I ran this call to a Hair Salon last year and to keep it from being a total waste of time, I thought I’d share some of the main reasons I will walk away from some clients right on the spot.
The first red flag was that the manager of the salon, the owner’s daughter was quite nasty and that I should only contact her mother. I don’t put up with snotty people, I laugh as I leave them.
In the second flag, the vent is as amateurish a job as I’ve ever seen. Flex hose running up through the ceiling and probably another 20 foot over to a vent on the roof. You couldn’t even run a cleaner through it, needs to be redone with hard duct. Will probably need a booster fan on it as well because of the length to the exterior vent. In my opinion, I’ll never get this unit to run correctly because it is not vented correctly.
Red flag number 3, even though the dryer is on heavy duty and at the highest temperature it’s only getting to about 105°, well below the 120 it should be. It is heating so the elements not broken, more than likely a matter of controls. Again, I would not dare to touch this problem until we had established proper ventilation for the dryer, that can have an effect on temperature.
Red flag 4, somebody else has been working on this unit before me and has abandoned the job! I can tell he’s ruined the door frame and God only knows what else.
Any one of these red flags can send me running to the door because I can see in advance that there is no pleasing this kind of client in these kind of circumstances. I’m not going to put myself in situations that I can’t deliver a proper outcome in. That’s how you get a bad reputation.
